Writing again!

After months of teaching via a laptop, I’d promised myself a break from the screen this week, but in the quiet of yesterday, somehow I couldn’t stop myself from thinking about the book I began writing in the Easter Holidays, not to mention ideas for something very different, and so now, here I am!

I’ve not done any writing at all for weeks, because whilst it’s usually a release and a way to relax for me, since my life began to revolve around a computer screen I’ve not wanted to spend any more time than necessary on my laptop. Now, it’s the holidays, and after a week spent predominantly in school communicating face to face with students and staff rather than via a screen, my enthusiasm for writing has returned!

The book I’m working on at this minute is very different from everything I’ve published to date. It’s much more personal and more biographical. Whether I will ever publish ‘The Hopes and Fears’ remains to be seen, but for those wanting another novel rest assured I’m on that too.

I’ve now got lots of ideas for the next Fairytale instalment that I started jotting down over Easter and May Half Term so there’s about 1/3 of a book written at the moment, and I hope to get that published in the Autumn. In addition, yesterday I suddenly worked out where I want to go with another story I’d been pondering over for months. It’s a book that I began writing years ago, but ran out of time or motivation (not sure which - probably a combination of both!) to finish that summer and when I re-read it in Half Term this May, I knew that I wanted to write the rest of it, but simply couldn’t work out where the characters needed to go. Finally, I think I’ve found my mojo for that one so hopefully I’ll get that finished this year too!

Happy summer folks, and as always, thank you for your support with my writing. It’s those comments I get which motivate me to keep pressing on with this!
